Kicking off this week’s Listening Party is Anjuli Dawn, a “2-step/folk” musician and semi-recent arrival to Asheville. She’s now on her fourth album, Give, she uses her music to explore the themes of “emotion, integrity, loss and joy.” And if that wasn’t enough of a reason to give her a listen, she also plays the bouzouki. We suggest starting with the track “Sand.”
Next up is local indie-rock outfit Dice Fly High. Front man Thomas Fitzpatrick, bassist Zack Plemmons and drummer Brent Francese describe their sound as a “pop song structure” laced with a “entrancing and driving” mix of “pulsating dance beats” and “punk angst.” We suggest starting with the song “My Flavor.”
Lastly, we have local “electronica/breakbeat” team The Midnight Foundation. Joel Goffin, Andrew Suhren and Matt Harder sum up their sound as the “live, emotional soundscapes of midnight,” which seems a fitting musical vision. We suggest starting with “The Gentleman.”
Now, it’s your turn. Tell us what you think by posting your comments in the fields below.

Man, Dice Fly High ROCK!! They’ve got one of the freshest sounds I’ve heard in a long time. I went to a show in TN and had a blast watching them preform. They really put on a great show. Check ’em out!!!
My comment about Dice Fly High…..
… can someone just please sign these guys already? I don’t see what the hold up is!
Yes I’d like to comment.
Dice is crazy good.
i’ve seen Dice Fly High play live 3 times and they are ALWAYS amazing! knock you OUT with their music.
Midnight Foundation sounds pretty cool too.

Dice is rad!!!!!
I’ve been a fan of Dice Fly High for a couple of years now and I know they’re ready to do the do because they’ve already been doin it. Although T has struggled with finding the right drummer (if there is such a demon), he hasn’t allowed it to affect what matters. Dice Fly High continues to fly high on my play list.
Anjuli Dawn: I dig the voice, interesting vocal melodies. Not as conventional as I’d expected. Quite good.
Dice Fly High: These guys rule. I really dig the singer’s voice. The production makes it incredibly easy to listen to, and none of the musicians are competing with each other in the space. I dig! Great rock band.
The Midnight Foundation: It sounds good, but I feel like it’s missing vox. There isn’t quite enough going to to stand on it’s own in a CD player and given full attention. I can see it as a soundtrack or on the dancefloor, but not in my CD player without more structure or vox.
I’ve always wanted to hear Dice Fly High and it was certainly worth the wait. I bet they’re a great performance to watch.
Dice Fly High Rocks! I can’t wait til they play a show near me! I want more!
um, it’s about damn time the world started listening to the Dice. you should see them LIVE. it’s transcendental.
I saw Dice Fly High in Asheville a couple of times. Their high energy show is amazing! Their drummer hits those things hard!!!!
DFH has been overlooked for too long!
It’s great to see so much support for DFH, but I’d like to hear a few more thoughts on Anjuli Dawn and The Midnight Foundation. Any takers?
