Blending in: The North Carolina Wildlife Federation has launched a grassroots campaign, called the Camouflage Coalition, aimed at uniting hunters and anglers to help protect fish-and-wildlife habitat.

Linked by the Internet, Camouflage Coalition members are able to get critical and timely information about legislation and policy changes affecting wildlife management and outdoor recreation in the state. Members can forward concerns to their elected representatives with a click of the mouse.

Visit www.nccamo.org to join. There is no fee.

Birds and the bees: Filing your taxes may seem like an onerous duty, but here’s one bright spot: By checking line 26 on your North Carolina tax form, you can give a portion of your refund to the state’s Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Fund.

The fund disburses money to assist projects benefiting songbirds, salamanders, crayfish and dozens of other small but adorable species.

Visit www.ncwildlife.org to learn more about how the donations are used.

United at last: Diamond Brand Outdoors has announced it will partner with Green River Adventures in Saluda to help the latter create a larger whitewater-retail location.

Under the new arrangement, Green River Adventures will maintain its current employees, and Diamond Brand will expand the company’s inventory of boats and associated gear.

Green River entered this world in 2000 as the instruction/guide service Pisgah Whitewater. Owner Sara Bell says the company “has worked hard to create an environment in our outpost that is super welcoming for our customers and clients. With this partnership, that laid back, welcoming feeling will not change.” Visit www.greenriveradventures.com or call 749-2800.
