Seeing is (dis)believing

Just in case you don’t remember: The left lane is for faster traffic; do not pull into the left lane to slow down.

Honestly, I have never, ever seen anything like the poor driving standards that occur here in Asheville. Come on folks, you read the rule book and for some reason you passed the test.

Just remember: The speed limit is a maximum, not minimum, and applies to all lanes of traffic…including the left lane.

You’re right – I have experienced this kind of inconsiderate driving here more than anywhere else I have ever lived, with the possible exception of the stretch of I-40 between Winston-Salem and Durham, which I refer to as “the Stupid Zone”. People there drive as if they have watched too much NASCAR – if someone else is getting ahead, then you’re losing. Blocking the passing lane and passing on the right are the rules, not the exceptions. Is this getting worse? It’s getting as if we don’t cooperate on the roads anymore, we compete.
