Although Palin didn’t seem to have a deer-in-the-headlights moment during her debate with Biden, she seemed rehearsed. There is a big difference between knowing the talking points and knowing what you are talking about. We’ve had a president who can talk folksy—a guy you’d like to sit with on the back porch and have a beer with. Look what he and his party have done to the country: We’re bankrupt.
I want someone who is smart to run the country. Someone who, should he/she have to take over as president, would be able to talk to heads of state at their level and know what he’s talking about. Jay Leno couldn’t have said it any better than when Dennis Miller suggested he’d rather have someone in the White House that was just plain folks. Leno said: So you are saying when you hire an accountant to do your taxes, you’d rather hire the guy that graduated at the bottom of his class than the one at the top?
Given McCain’s age, do we really want to take a chance on the possibility of a “Gidget goes to Washington” vice president a heart beat away from the presidency.
