Didn’t get enough of the cinema scene at last week’s film festivals? This weekend offers up the chance to see more films with strong local roots.
Tonight (Friday, Nov. 14), Asheville-based director Chris Bower will host two test screenings of Solatrium, a sci-fi short produced here that gave birth to the full-length Moon Europa. The film will screen at 7 and 10 p.m. at the Satellite Gallery (55 Broadway in Asheville).
There is a suggested donation of $10; proceeds will fund Bower’s new documentary project, We Won’t Bow Down, about the Mardi Gras Indians. Curious about that film? Tomorrow night (Saturday, Nov. 15), Bower will screen excerpts at Eyesore Studio (in The Wedge Building in the River Arts District) from 7 to 10 p.m. Once again, the suggested $10 donation will go toward completing We Won’t Bow Down.
