On Saturday, April 25, I gathered with a cluster of good-looking, well-toned and intelligent runners for the annual Mainstay Mountain Medley 10-miler at Green Cove (just south of Hendersonville). The race was everything one hopes for: well-organized, scenic and supportive of a worthy cause.
And so I am left with one question, post-event: Where were all the runners? Irrefutable evidence for low turnout is that I actually won something in my age division (which one is none of your nosy business)—and that never happens when there’s a proper showing.
So, WNC runners, please write mainstayhelp.org on your spring 2010 running calendar, so you’ll remember to check the site and enter next year. I’ll see you there!
