I want to say "thank you" to the city of Asheville for doing such a "great job" of pushing the snow on the street in front of my driveway, building a mountain of snow — frozen snow — so nobody can enter the driveway.
The city is solving one problem, freeing the streets of snow, by creating another for homeowners. The problem of being blocked has already occurred twice for me this winter.
Because of my age and health I am not able to shovel the load of snow pushed in front of my driveway by the city. The city should be aware of this problem — and I suppose I am not the only one suffering.
Thanks again, Asheville, for the "good service" you provide to your taxpaying homeowners.

Thanks for reading through to the end…
We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.
We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
Unfortunate, but what do you expect them to do? Maybe lift the blade every time the plow comes to a driveway? There’d hardly be a point to plowing the streets if they did that.
If I was there, I’d shovel you out but this week I’m several hours away… Perhaps there is a neighborhood kid that might like to earn some pocket change by cleaning you out.
It’s snowed enough to plow, what 2 or 3 times. Life’s tough here in the mountains.
It’s only snowed once this year ….. I mean I don’t know how you people learned to count. But I love snow and we’ve only received snow once. The other 10 storms left us cold and sunny …. with a small inch or two on the ground. As far as this city handling the snow well ….. HA! # days running a plow has come up my big hill of a street spraying brine and salt ….. MY STREET HAS NO SNOW ON IT. It was actually dry when they came and wet with brine when they left. I think it humorous that a city like DC, with WAY MORE to worry about than little old Asheville, could dig itself out of 70in. of snow (that’s over 5 feet folks) in only 4 days …. we get a 1/2 inch and school has been canceled 2 sunny days running now ….. a terrible atrocity. This city’s ability to handle snow is pathetic ….. how about that ripping blizzard last week ?!?
