Not every act has been scheduled, but Moogfest ticket holders can start to plan a course of action for the three-day event. Headliners have now been slotted for the Friday, Oct. 29-Sunday, Oct. 31 festival. Acts are divided between the Asheville Civic Center, Thomas Wolf Auditorium and The Orange Peel. The schedule grid also holds (as yet unscheduled) workshop slots at “Moogaplex” and — even more mysterious — “828.”
The Friday lineup has fans making some tough choices, such as between Big Boi in the Civic Center from 8-9 p.m. and Devo in Thomas Wolfe from 8-9:15 p.m. RJD2 and MuteMath play late-night at the Orange Peel. Girl Talk, at the Civic Center, wraps the night at 2:15 a.m.
Saturday kicks off at 6 p.m. (so far), pitting Nosaj Thing, Mountain Man and Projek Moog against each other. Some fancy footwork will allow fans to catch both Jonsi (8:30-10 p.m. at Thomas Wolfe) and Thievery Corporation (9-10:30 p.m. at the Civic Center) — space allowing.
Sunday — despite being a school night — has plenty of late offering as well, with Pretty Lights running to midnight in the Civic Center and Dark Party going until 12:45 a.m. at the Orange Peel.
According to the most recent Moogfest press release, “As if we hadn’t given you enough Halloween treats, we’re still adding artists into the moogfest mix. Our most recent lineup additions include Javelin, Alex B, Nosaj Thing, Dark Party, Headtronics (Bernie Worrell, Freekbass & Adam Deitch), Shout Out Out Out Out, Volt Per Octaves featuring special guest Bernie Worrell and Projek Moog with special guest Brian Kehew! But we’re not done yet – a handful of additional artists will be joining the lineup in the coming weeks, plus we’ll be releasing information about late night shows and special events in clubs and other venues throughout Asheville. Information regarding moogfest 2010’s workshops, panel discussions, art exhibitions, installations and film screenings, will be announced in the coming weeks as well.”
A recent Facebook post mentioned the addition of some local musicians — Projeck Moog represents in that category. It’s described as “A dynamic blend from roots music to electronic jazz will feature multi-instrumentalist and slide wizard Billy Cardine (Biscuit Burners), bassist Jay Sanders (Acoustic Syndicate, Donna the Bufallo), Ben Hovey (Asheville Horns), on trumpet, keyboards and electronica, drummer extraordinaire Jeff Sipe (Jimmy Herring, Leftover Salmon, Bela Fleck, Susan Tedesci) and Moog’s senior engineer Cyril Lance on the Moog Guitar.”
How is Club 828 mysterious?
Moogfest has stated on their facebook page that Club 828 will be used.
and isn’t 828 closed now? – I wonder where the afterparty shows will go now.
