From a press release:

Blue Ridge Rollergirls will compete in Beach Brawl 2014

On May 2-4, 2014, the Blue Ridge Rollergirls will compete in Beach Brawl 2014, an international, sanctioned Women’s Flat Track Derby Association tournament held in sunny Hollywood, Florida. Blue Ridge will be one of 24 teams competing in the tournament, and they will play three bouts throughout the weekend, including an international bout with the Royal Windsor Rollergirls from Berkshire, England.

The Blue Ridge Rollergirls will enter this tournament fresh off an undefeated performance at the Skate to Thrill roller derby tournament held in Wright City, Missouri. During Skate to Thrill, the Blue Ridge Rollergirls defeated all of their opponents, which included Fargo Moorhead Derby Girls, Fort Myers Derby Girls, and NEO Roller Derby. They hope to continue this winning streak at Beach Brawl. “We’ve really come together as a team and are ready to fight,” says Amanda “Rider” Burton, a jammer for Blue Ridge. “We aim to prove ourselves at this tournament.”

At Beach Brawl, Blue Ridge will bout against neighbor Carolina Rollergirls at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 2, Royal Windsor at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, and the Dallas Derby Devils at 9 a.m. on Sunday, May 4. Derbynewsnetwork.com will provide live coverage of the tournament. The league has “rolled local” in Asheville since 2006.
