What’s that thing? Modular Marketplace shows off the tools for electronic music-making

Every wonder just how electronic musicians make those sounds? Find out for yourself at the Modular Marketplace. (Carrie Eidson/Mountain Xpress)

If you drop into the first floor of the Masonic Temple today, you may find yourself asking, “What’s that strange looking thing?”

Modular Marketplace, curated by Austin, Texas based electronics shop Switched On, is a chance to see the latest in innovative music-making, as you get a chance to check out, learn about, try out and even purchase a range of electronic instruments and accessories to help the public engage with electronic music.

The marketplace, which runs from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day of the festival,  also includes demonstrations and workshops. Check out Moog’s site for a full list of the presentations and their times. Modular Marketplace is free to attend and open to the public.
