“The city is exploring whether they’d save money by having residents put all their trash on one side of the street. This would greatly reduce the distance garbage trucks travel — and that savings in gas and mileage would add up. …
The city puts six or seven of the trucks on the street four days a week and they cover 45-80 miles a day each, said Richard Grant, solid waste services supervisor. The trucks only get one-and-a-half to 2.3 miles per gallon of diesel fuel, he said…”
