Press release from RiverLink:

Seeking Nominations for the 37th Annual Friends of the River Awards

The Land of Sky Regional Council is currently seeking nominations for the 37th Annual Friends of the River awards.  The purpose of the award is to recognize individuals, private organizations, civic groups, and/or public agencies that have made a significant contribution toward the restoration and enhancement of the French Broad River and its tributaries as a recreational, economic, or cultural resource.
The council requests assistance in identifying deserving candidates to be recognized as Friends of the River.  Recipients of the award will be honored during Land of Sky’s Friends of the River Dinner on October 14, 2014.
Each award winner will receive a framed certificate as well as a copy of Wilma Dykeman’s novel, The French Broad.  In addition, the award recipients are treated to a complimentary dinner.   Information on the award winners will be sent to local newspapers so they will receive recognition in their hometowns and throughout the region.
To nominate an individual or organization for the Friends of the River award, email annie@landofsky.org for a nomination packet.
