Patsy Keever for Congress is now enrolling interns for our 2012 campaign.
This is a unique opportunity to work on an exciting, high-paced campaign to help elect Rep. Patsy Keever to Congress in North Carolina’s 10th Congressional District. These internships are ideal for intelligent, reliable and highly-motivated college students or recent graduates who are interested in becoming involved in Democratic politics. Interns will develop marketable skills and a general understanding of the political campaign process.
This position is based in Asheville, North Carolina and is 16-25 hours per week. Internships are unpaid, and college credit is offered upon request for completed internships. Positions are available for spring, summer and fall quarters of 2012.
Internships are current available in the following departments:
Communications
The communications department facilitates the Keever campaign’s interaction with the press, and will assist the communications director with:
• Traditional methods, such as press releases and media events
• New media tools, such as Facebook, Twitter, Internet ads and other online components
• Communication with existing subscribers via e-newsletters
• Enrolling new subscribers
• Managing subscriber database
• Updating campaign website including blog posts
Finance
The finance department oversees the fundraising operations for the Keever campaign and is responsible for raising the funds that fuel activities in all counties in NC’s 10th Congressional District. A finance intern will assist the finance director in:
• Donor research
• Managing donor databases
• Contacting campaign contributors
• Following up with contributors via telephone and email
• Planning, executing and staffing fundraisers
• Promoting upcoming events
Research
The research department is responsible for both the long- and short-term research needs of the campaign.
• Short term: Provide the necessary facts for the rapid response required when promoting or defending the candidate.
• Long-term: Provide research concerning political challengers and challenging issues that could arise.
Data Management
• Data entry
• Database management
Field Organizing
Interns in this department will build a district-wide grassroots movement of volunteers to support the Keever campaign in gaining supporters, then encouraging them to vote.
