Swannanoa Valley Museum offers rare chance to hike to Blue Seas Falls

From the Swannanoa Valley Museum press release

On Saturday, March 3rd, hike on pristine land to a spectacularly clear stream falling over a 30′ high rock face into a deep, dark pool. The setting adds amazing character to the falls, which is located at the feet of some of the highest mountains in the East. A smaller falls downstream shoots off a huge, curved boulder into another blue-green pool.

The “mythical” and very hard to reach Blue Sea Falls is located at the headwaters of the Cane River in Yancey County, North Carolina, The old Big Tom Wilson Toll Road is used to get to the falls, which are on private property. Blue Sea Falls is normally inaccessible to the public, except on special occasions where the property owners have graciously allowed access to the Museum.

We will meet at 9 AM at Black Mountain Savings Bank, 200 East State Street, to carpool to the waterfall. Cost is $35 for members and $50 for nonmembers. Registration is required. Register online or call 828-669-9566.
