Brevard, North Carolina (June 12, 2014) – Mountain Life Coworking, which provides affordable, flexible workspace to remote workers, opened today followed by a ribbon cutting at 2pm by the Chamber of Commerce. The company is hosting an open house on Friday, June 27th from 6:30 – 8:30pm in conjunction with Brevard’s Fourth Friday Art Walk. Anyone interested in experiencing coworking first-hand can use the facility all day for free on June 27th as well any fourth Friday of
the month.
“Mountain Life Coworking allows those who work from home to get off their kitchen table and be productive again, without the common home distractions or the noise and guilt that comes with posting up at your local coffee shop,” said Melissa Brown, owner. “And you get all the perks of working in an office, like a conference room, kitchen, and camaraderie, without the dress code and corporate environment.”
The idea transpired when Brown, a Brevard native, acknowledged her own lack of productivity while working remotely for over five years. “What would normally take me 20 hours per week to complete, was taking 40 hours per week. And I wondered why I was still on my computer at 9pm working on a presentation. Eventually I couldn’t even relax in my own home.”
Mountain Life Coworking offers flexible options for members, including semi-private nooks or less formal community spaces. The space also features a small virtual conference room as well as a large conference room for eight, a lounge, and kitchen. Plans start as low as $49 per month for seven days of use, up to $225 per month for a semiprivate nook with 24/7 access. Drop-in passes are available from $5 for one hour to $10 per day.
Event rentals are also an option. Memberships are month-to-month, eliminating the need to enter into a long-term commitment and include all utilities, wifi, and coffee.
“This is a great location for people in the Brevard area looking for office space without having to sign long-term leases. There’s ample public parking and plenty of lunch options nearby,” added Brown.
Brown hopes the space will become a community hub for productivity and collaboration as well as a new social networking venue. “I want this space to be seen as an asset not just for tourists, but for anyone looking to move to the area, proving that you really can live, work, and play all in one
amazing place.”
