In their own words

Andrew Schatzberg performs with WorldLine at that band's album release show at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall

“The diversity of the Asheville music scene has got to be the strongest and most interesting element. In a single night, you can catch a blue grass show, a jazz show, a jam band gig, or a crazy rock show.  — Andrew Schatzberg, owner of Landslide Recording Studio

We need a platform on video, a show dedicated to documenting and promoting our music. Independent Arts and Music of Asheville has done a marvelous job of streaming and archiving live performances from many venues, for example.  I have a dream of making the Lingua Musica show into a full-time endeavor, incorporating behind-the-scenes footage and stories into the existing live performance and interview format. — Joe Kendrick, radio music host at WNCW and owner of Lingua Musica

Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.
