Hi,

PRESS RELEASE
The Mountain Community School Odyssey of the Mind Team Headed To Odyssey of The Mind World Finals!
The Mountain Community School middle school Odyssey of the Mind team finished second at the North Carolina State Odyssey of the Mind Finals competition on Saturday March 31, 2012 at Wingate University in Wingate, North Carolina and has qualified to represent the state of North Carolina at the 2012 Odyssey of the Mind World Finals Competition at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa on May 23-26.
The Odyssey of the Mind World Finals includes state champion teams from across the US as well as national champions from other countries around the world. The event, which is modeled after the Olympics, includes an opening ceremony celebrating the representatives from each state and country, takes place over several days and includes competitions and a variety of creative activities for the teams and coaches, many provided by NASA.
The Odyssey Angels team, consisting of eighth graders Haley Fair and Emily Staton, seventh graders Chloe Corpening, Stephanie McCrary, Cameron Ramer, and Kendall Wick, and sixth grader Taylor Tipton, competed in the Division II (Middle School) Odyssey Angels (Problem 5) against the state’s top ten teams (in order to go to the state finals, teams had to finish first or second in their regional competition – TMCS Odyssey Angels finished second at the Western Regional competition on February 25, 2012 at Enka High School).
The team is very excited about the trip and you can follow our team’s preparation, incredible journey and even support our team on our blog, Odyssey Angels Go To World Finals at: http://tmcsodysseyangels.blogspot.com/
Now the task is to find a way for the team to make the 1000 mile odyssey to the OM World Finals where they will be representing our school, Hendersonville and Henderson County, western North Carolina and the entire state of North Carolina. Our team will be holding car washes, bake sales and other fund-raisers to try and raise the nearly $9,000 that will be necessary to fund the trip and the four day competition.
Please Be an Angel and become a sponsor of our hometown Odyssey Angels Team! (just click the Support Our Trip to Iowa!!! button on the blog for information on donating to the effort)! You can also send your support through the mail to the school, 613 Glover Street, Hendersonville, NC 28792.
