From a press release:
Asheville, NC: Brian Boggs, master chairmaker, plans a celebration of his 30+ years in chairmaking with an Open House at his expanding company’s new location at 239 Amboy Road. The event will take place on Saturday, September 20, from 3:00-7:00 PM.
The Open House is free and open to the public. Planned activities will appeal to woodworkers, furniture enthusiasts, homeowners, architects, designers, and builders alike. Staff will lead woodworking demonstrations some of the unique processes used in the shop and offer workshop tours. There will be a healthy selection of locally fell, live-edge wood slabs for sale. Attendees can also peruse the furniture gallery and experience the comfort of Boggs-designed chairs, such as the award-winning Ladderback Rocking Chair and the Sonus Guitar Chair, while enjoying complimentary beer or wine. Food will be available for purchase from The Bom Bus food truck.
There will also be a cash raffle with a lucrative prize: one Sunniva Swing, complete with timber frame stand. The Sunniva swing is an elegant, ergonomic piece of outdoor furniture crafted from sustainably sourced Honduran mahogany and a freshly patented design. The retail value of the swing alone is $6,000. Raffle tickets will sell at the event for $20 each. The drawing will be held at 6:00 PM; winner need not be present.
Brian Boggs Chairmakers moved from its former location at 8 London Road in June of this year. The larger space at 239 Amboy Road allows for more comfortable production, with room for expansion, and is conveniently located near the River Arts District.
