I want to congratulate Patsy Keever on winning the Democratic nomination for Congress, but it is hard to know what to say. If I say “Congratulations on your win,” that won’t work because she will say, “It isn’t my win; it’s the people’s win.” If I say, “You ran a great campaign,” she will say, “I have a great staff and many dedicated volunteers.” If I say, “Now I guess you have to work pretty hard on the general election,” she will agree, but she will add, “But I still serve in the N.C. House of Representatives. There is a lot to do there for families and jobs and the environment.”
Patsy loves her current public office and would have campaigned to keep it if Republicans had not moved district lines right down her street and written her out of her district. You get the idea. Patsy Keever is the genuine article. She is the rare candidate who really does put the people first.
Experienced and well-connected in the political realm, she is never manipulative. Tough on the issues she cares about, she is always open to productive dialogue with the opposition. A tireless campaigner, she is not ambitious on her own behalf. It isn’t about her; it’s about the people.
How lucky can the people of House District 10 get? Patsy is a true public servant. Let’s not miss this opportunity to send Patsy Keever to Washington.
