Press release from the campaign of Christina Merrill:
Asheville, N.C. (Oct. 14, 2014) – North Carolina District 115 State Representative, and former two term Chairman of the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners, Nathan Ramsey (R) Buncombe, has formally endorsed Christina “Kelley” Merrill (R) Buncombe, for election to the Buncombe County Board of Commissioner’s District 2, in the upcoming November 4 election.
Representative Ramsey stated, “In the best interest of our hard working citizens and small businesses that are vital to our local economy, I would like to encourage you to elect Christina Merrill to the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners. Her background in Communications and Law will serve our residents well. Christina will bring balance to the County Commission, as she is thoughtful in decision making and will be a much needed fiscally responsible voice for all of our County citizens.”
Representative Ramsey went on to say, “Many of us know Christina “Kelley” Merrill as a local broadcast personality and marketing executive, she has worked intimately with our small businesses and truly cares about Buncombe’s entrepreneurs. Christina has raised her three children over the last two decades here in our County Schools, she has invested many hours as a youth volunteer and truly cares about our future. Christina is married to Doug Merrill a classmate of mine from AC Reynolds High who’s family was one of the early settlers here in our Mountains. Christina will protect our senior citizens and working families from unnecessary tax increases and costly restrictions. And most importantly, I know she will continue working to make our very good public schools even better.”
In his closing remarks, Representative Ramsey stressed, “Buncombe County needs Christina Merrill, she will bring common sense leadership and a passion for our schools and small businesses to the Board of Commissioners. I hope you will join me in supporting Christina for our Commissioner! “
In thanking Ramsey for his support, Merrill replied, “I would like to sincerely thank House Representative Nathan Ramsey for his endorsement. Nathan is a thoughtful, independent voice for our county and it is an honor to have his support.”
Christina lives in Fairview with her husband Doug and daughter Lily, 11 who attends Cane Creek Middle School. Her two sons, Adam and Henry, both graduated from A.C. Reynolds High School and attend N.C. colleges. She has an education in Communications and Law, having attended Pepperdine and South College respectively.
