YWCA of Asheville hosts health fair, Nov. 1

On Saturday, November 1st the YWCA of Asheville, located at 185 South French Broad Avenue, will host a health fair that is free and open to the entire community. This blow-out wellness event will offer glucose (blood sugar), cholesterol and blood pressure checks and BMI evaluation. Health education and screenings will be available including balance, hearing, and vision screening. Representatives will be present from WNCAP and the Council on Aging to provide information about their organizations. Pisgah Legal will attend to educate individuals about the upcoming open enrollment in the Health Insurance Marketplace. Dana Blake of Mission Hospital will host a low-cost CPR class. The event will be catered by Clingman Cafe and will include chair massage and other alternative wellness therapies.

Appointments are available from 9 a.m. to noon. All who are interested can call Susan Kettren, Director of Health and Wellness at 828-254-7206 ext. 215 to make an appointment or with questions. Spanish interpreters will be available from 11 to 1 pm and Spanish speakers can make an appointment or direct questions to Katie Souris, Coordinator of Preventive Health, at 828-254-7206 ext. 212.
