ASHEVILLE, NC — Among the other great things happening at RiverFest 2012, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. will be serving up cold brews at French Broad River Park, 12 miles downstream from the location of their planned East Coast brewery. RiverFest is RiverLink’s biggest event of the year, designed to draw people down to the French Broad River to discover its splendors. RiverFest features a kids parade and activities, the Anything that Floats Parade of wacky rafts, live music featuring three popular local acts, foodtrucks, arts & crafts, and more. RiverFest takes place at French Broad River Park on Saturday, August 11 from 1 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Earlier this year, Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. announced it had chosen approximately 90 acres in the Henderson County Town of Mills River to be home to the new production facility, as well as a proposed restaurant and gift shop. “We are thrilled to have found an ideal location in western North Carolina for our second brewery,” says Ken Grossman, founder of Sierra Nevada, at the time. “The beer culture, water quality and quality of life are excellent. We feel lucky to be a part of this community.”
Adds RiverLink Executive Director Karen Cragnolin, “It’s great to see our wonderful water prove to be an important economic driver in our region. We’re very glad Sierra Nevada has discovered the magic of the French Broad and we welcome them to the region.”
