NCLCV launches ‘Accountability Campaign’ with goal of rIAINF $10,000 in 10 Days

North Carolina League of Conservation Voters (NCLCV) announced today an ambitious new fundraising campaign in response to the “most shameful environmental legislative session ever.” From legalizing fracking without the proper health and property protections in place, to undermining the state’s ability to prepare for sea level rise by limiting the use of sound science (but only for 4 years), to defunding our state agency tasked with enforcing environmental laws… the 2011-2012 North Carolina General Assembly proved that “who we elect matters.”

On Friday, July 20 at 10:10 a.m., NCLCV launched an aptly titled Accountability Campaign with a goal of $10k in 10 days to fight back for the future of our state’s environment. NCLCV will use the money raised to:

Work in key districts to support or oppose candidates.
Let the voters know how the decisions made by their legislators are going to impact their communities, their landscapes, their drinking water, etc.
Make sure everyone knows that the most important thing we can do for the environment is vote for candidates who share our environmental values.
The $10,000 will go directly to support environmental champions and oppose some of the most anti-environmental legislators. NCLCV will work strategically where it can have the most impact on environmental issues.

It’s time for conservationists in our state to step up and work together to take back the future of our state for a clean, green, and beautiful North Carolina.

Details and current status of the campaign can be accessed here: nclcv.org/accountability-2012.
