Equinox Horse Foundation will hold a fundraiser on Dec. 5, 6:30-10 p.m., at the Wisteria Inn, 56 N. Main St., Weaverville. The theme will be centered around the novel “Winters Tale” by Mark Helprin, which takes place in NYC during the Edwardian Era. Winter’s Tale will be an event of fun, frolic and fantasia. Roasting chestnuts, actors, acrobats, singing, and a horse-drawn carriage are in store. The fundraiser will benefit Equinox Horse Foundation’s mission to provide therapeutic riding lessons to the disabled.
Tickets are $40.00 including a carriage ride with picture, movie (Winter’s Tale), hors d’oeuvres and libations. Carriage rides will be available 5- 8 p.m. for $10.00/person and $5.00 for a picture. For tickets and information contact Mary Shanahan at (828) 708-9331.
The Equinox Horse Foundation is a newly organized program, bringing horses and humans together for healing. It offers compassionate riding services to differently-abled as well as the typically-abled folks. It also raises funds for Therapeutic Riding and Equine Assisted Therapy, providing growth, healing and learning for those unable to pay. The program is directed by Lori Araki, a skilled Equine Specialist with 20 years of experience as a professional horsewoman. She is a PATH certified riding instructor and specialist in EFMH/L and is EAGALA certified.
