Full announcement from Kanuga Conferences:
HENDERSONVILLE, N.C. — Eric Metaxas, the New York Times best-selling author of Bonhoeffer: Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy and Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery, will keynote the upcoming Lansing Lee Conference at Kanuga Conferences in Hendersonville, N.C. from October 28 – 30, 2012.
Metaxas’ keynote at the 2012 National Prayer Breakfast railed against “phony religiosity” and called U.S. lawmakers to take Jesus’s teachings seriously.
With a long list of international appearances booked through July 2014, Metaxas brings his trademark wit and humor to this annual conference themed “Salt and Light: A Culturally Relevant Faith.”
Though nearly sold-out, space is still available for those who wish to hear Metaxas share the stories of William Wilberforce and Dietrich Bonhoeffer, exploring ways to make our own faith culturally relevant. Attendees are guaranteed lots of face time with the famous Yale graduate during four keynote sessions, as well as a book signing and fireside question-and-answer chat.
The Lansing Lee Conference honors the memory of Lansing B. Lee, Jr. of Augusta, GA, who participated in many aspects of Kanuga’s programs and governance for more than 50 years. The annual conference focuses on “practicing the faith,” with each event exploring a different dimension of that topic in the context of the world, nation, the Church and society. The conference is made possible by an endowment established by Lee’s wife Natalie.
Kanuga Conferences Inc. is one of the nation’s largest Episcopal camp and conference centers, located on 1,400 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains near Hendersonville, N.C.
