Here’s the press release from the state political advocacy group, Progress North Carolina:
Pay to Play Pat is Here to Stay
This evening Governor Pat McCrory will make his first appearance in Asheville since taking the oath of office on Saturday. Earlier in the afternoon, Progress North Carolina will hold a press conference to announce a new website and report highlighting McCrory’s pay-to-play problems.
Since his election in November, McCrory has been under fire for a number of questionable decisions that have damaged his reformer image. Among those to be highlighted tomorrow is McCrory’s association with a new political spin-machine set up by his campaign advisers. The new “Foundation for North Carolina” is already fundraising with McCrory’s blessing, asking rich special interests for donations between $25,000 and $50,000. In return, the special interests are invited to exclusive policy retreats with Gov. McCrory at Pinehurst and Bald Head Island.
WHO: Progress North Carolina and local Asheville residents
WHAT: Press conference
WHERE: Pack Square Park, In front of the Asheville City Hall Building
WHEN: Today, 2 PM
