RiverLink to host Spring Salon Series exploring local ecology, wildflowers, birds

RiverLink’s 2015 Spring Salon Series will “celebrate the natural wonders” of Appalachia with three free events, according to a release from the nonprofit.

On Friday, March 27, from 3-5 p.m., Dan Lazar will host “an overview of the ecology of the Southern Appalachians. You’ll learn why our mountains are home to more species of trees than all of Europe, as well as uncover the complex interactions between familiar organisms and their natural environment. Register here.

Wildflower expert Scott Dean will lead a wildflower presentation and walk from 3-5 p.m. on Friday, April 17. Register here.

Finally, local birding expert Emilie Travis will discuss her specialty on Friday, April 24, from 3-5 p.m., and then help participants “discover the many colorful birds found in our region” during a guided walk on Saturday, April 25. Register here.

Events are free, but limited space makes registration necessary. Parking for sessions is available in the green lot between the studios at 6 Riverside Drive and Jean Webb Park. Contact Dave Russel at dave@riverlink.org for more information.
