Asheville – Turning 50 is considered an important milestone. Though most birthdays involve gifts for the celebrant, Ingles Markets has decided that their 50th birthday will be marked with giving.
MANNA FoodBank has been chosen as the fortunate recepient of the month long celebration. Ingles’ shoppers in all of the 16 counties that MANNA serves will have the opportunity to make a “$1 donation” that Ingles will match. The goal of the promotion is to raise $50,000 to honor the 50th anniversary. Ingles has pledged to donate up to $25,000 and shoppers are challenged to raise the balance.The fund raising promotion will last one month from Sunday April 7- Monday, May 6.
According to Cindy Threlkeld MANNA”s Executive Director, “Our relationship with Ingles Markets has developed into one of the most significant in our 30 year history, they have been a very generous partner.”
Tom Outlaw, Ingles Vice President of Sales & Marketing added “ We realize that unemployment in our region remains very high and are committed to helping those families in need find some relief by keeping food on the table. MANNA is the perfect partner to help us make this happen.”
MANNA FoodBank is a 501c3 non-profit organization serving Western North Carolina since 1983. As an accredited member of Feeding America – the nation’s largest domestic hunger relief organization – MANNA serves 241 non-profit member agencies in 16 Western North Carolina counties. In 2012, MANNA distributed 11.2 million pounds of food to partner agencies – enough food for more than 24,000 meals 365 days a year.
