About the author–Monroe is a bestselling author of sixteen novels and two children’s books.  She has achieved many lists, including the New York Times, USA Today and SIBA.

Known for her intimate portrayals of women’s lives, Mary Alice Monroe’s writing gained added purpose and depth with her books set in the Lowcountry of South Carolina.  An active environmentalist, Monroe draws themes for her novels from nature and the parallels with human nature, thus drawing attention to various endangered species and the human connection to the natural world. Her latest book, THE SUMMER’S END, is the final book in the Lowcountry trilogy which includes THE SUMMER GIRLS and THE SUMMER WIND.  In this enchanting trilogy set on Sullivan’s Island, South Carolina,  Monroe captures the complex relationships between three half-sisters scattered across the country—and a grandmother determined to help them re-discover their family bonds.

Pre-purchase and Save! While books will be available for purchase at the luncheon, attendees will have the opportunity to pre-purchase THE SUMMER’S END at a significant savings:  THE SUMMER’S END is available to attendees for $12 if purchased before the luncheon. This is a 25% discount off of the retail price of $16.

Just finished the Lowcountry Summer Trilogy, just loved it. Came upon one of the books @ B&N bargain table. Recommended this new author to my book club.
