Free event about mental health, substance abuse, disability services, June 23

 From a press release:

Do you want to learn more about receiving help for yourself or a loved one for mental health concerns, alcohol or drug problems or intellectual or developmental disabilities? Do you work in the health or human services field and want to share your ideas about how to improve available services?

Smoky Mountain LME/MCO will offer a free event to share information about local services for mental health, substance use and intellectual/developmental disabilities on June 23, 1-2:30 p.m.

Smoky Mountain is the agency that manages public funds for these services in Buncombe and nearby counties. Smoky will hold a free information session to talk with residents about how to obtain services in the Buncombe County area.

People working in health services fields and service providers are encouraged to attend and provide feedback about the current service system. Participants can also meet Smoky leadership and learn about wellness and recovery, emotional health for seniors, crisis services and healthy parenting strategies. For more information, call Ashley Edmonds at 1-800-893-6246, ext. 5324, or e-mail ashley.edmonds@smokymountaincenter.com.
