Flu vaccine clinics begin in two days at local schools

Press release

From Buncombe County Department of Health and Human Services:

Buncombe County Health and Human Services is bringing healthy choices within reach by teaming up with Maxim Healthcare Services, Buncombe County Schools and Asheville City Schools to bring flu vaccines to 7 schools throughout our community. By getting the flu vaccine, individuals protect themselves, their loved ones and our community.
CDC recommends that all individuals 6 months and older get the flu vaccine each and every year. Flu vaccine is very effective for a whole year so the sooner you get the vaccine the better. Some years the flu season begins in October. That is why Buncombe County will be offering the flu vaccine beginning Sept 30th at a school near you.

Be a community hero and get a flu vaccine somewhere this month. Flu shots are usually available from your health care provider, drug stores and grocery stores. Flu vaccine is also available at our Immunization Clinic located at 40 Coxe Avenue in downtown Asheville, across the street from the post office and bus station. Parking is free. Anyone 6 months and older may receive a flu vaccine at this location, without an appointment, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 8am – 5 pm.
