In July, Hendersonville City Council voted to adopt a new dog tethering ordinance (#15-0741). The ordinance is with respect to the tethering of domestic animals within the enforcement jurisdiction of the City of Hendersonville. The City Council has determined that the tethering of domestic animals constitutes in many cases animal cruelty, Section 10 -152, of the Hendersonville Code of Ordinances is hereby amended.
Councilman Ron Stephens stated, “The tethering of dogs is a quality of life issue for the animal and people who live around the tethered dog. We believe it is in the best interest of our residents to prohibit the long term tethering of dogs.”
