Facebook, the giant social network that recently celebrated its 10th birthday, is increasing its presence in Forest City, the Daily Courier reported this week.
Facebook’s local data center occupies two buildings that are approximately 350,000 square feet each. Facebook General Manager Keven McCammon told Forest City’s town council on Monday that a third building is under construction, the Daily Courier reported.. When plans were announced in 2011, the facility was envisioned as having 35 fulltime employees. McCammon said there are now 80 full-time employees and more than 80 part-time.
The facilities are used for storing Facebook digital photos.
