AC-T: Buncombe Sheriff’s Department moving later this year

The Asheville Citizen-Times reported Thursday that the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office plans to relocate from its current location into two other facilities by year’s end. The department made the announcement Wednesday.

The transition begins Monday as multiple divisions will move into a satellite office at Leicester Crossing, 339 New Leicester Highway. The rest of the department will move into the fourth floor of the new judicial complex in downtown Asheville later this year.

The current location, 202 Haywood St., likely will be sold, Sheriff Van Duncan said.
