N.C. Center for Nonprofits Will Hold Town Hall in Asheville on February 22

Press release from The N.C. Center for Nonprofits:

The N.C. Center for Nonprofits will hold a Nonprofit Town Hall on Monday, February 22, 2:00-4:00 p.m., at the Goodwill Center, 1616 Patton Avenue, in Asheville. All charitable nonprofit organizations in western North Carolina are invited to attend this free event.

The Nonprofit Town Hall will offer a preview of major trends, threats, and opportunities for nonprofits in 2016. Last year, nonprofits were at the center of many of the biggest state policy debates. As state legislators return to Raleigh to begin their 2016 short session in April, many of their top priorities will again involve issues of critical importance to nonprofits.

At the Nonprofit Town Hall, participants will have the opportunity to:

·         Hear about recent and upcoming trends and public policy developments affecting nonprofits’ tax exemption, ability to raise funds, and operations;

·         Discuss the public policy issues that matter most to the nonprofit organizations attending the Town Hall; and

·         Learn the three things that nonprofits need to do to prepare their staffs, boards, volunteers, and constituents for the 2016 election.

David Heinen, the N.C. Center’s vice president of public policy and advocacy, will offer tips on nonprofit advocacy and facilitate the discussion. The Nonprofit Town Hall is being held in partnership with Western NC Nonprofit Pathways and United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County.

The Nonprofit Town Hall is free, but registration is required. For registration and information, visit www.ncnonprofits.org/western-nc-nonprofit-town-hall or call 919-790-1555, ext. 100.
