WNC photographer Lori Kincaid is one of fifteen photographers selected for the judging panel of a major, annual competition to find the USA’s landscape photographer of the year. She is the only judge based in the Southern Appalachians.
Now in its third year, the USA Landscape Photographer of the Year competition celebrates the rural and urban landscape of the United States and was founded by Charlie Waite, one of the world’s most respected landscape photographers. In addition to Kincaid, the judging panels includes international photography greats Antony Spencer, Art Wolfe, Brenda Tharp, Charlie Waite, Charlotte Gibb, Christopher Burkett, Ian Plant, Jim Patterson, Justin Reznick, Marc Adamus , Marc Muench, Paul Sanders, Sarah Marino and Tim Fitzharris.
Entries are open to photographers worldwide on the competition website (http://www.usalpoty.com/) until September 15, 2016.
“I’m honored and humbled to serve with such an esteemed panel of judges,” said Kincaid, “but most of all I’m looking forward to seeing some great photography. The Southern Appalachians are exquisite, yet they’re often under-represented in international photography competitions. I encourage local photographers to enter their best work.”
Kincaid’s photography is often featured in regional, national and international publications and exhibitions. Locally she served on a 2014 panel for the Southern Appalachian office of the Wilderness Society exploring creative perspectives of wilderness.
