Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Foundation announces grant awards totaling $1,000,495 to 25 non-profit organizations. Of the 25 grants, 10 were in the area of social services totaling $379,830; 9 went to education for a total of $356,975; the remaining 6 were health care related totaling $263,690. The organizations that received grants are located in the following 8 counties: Buncombe, Gaston, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Mecklenburg, and Transylvania Counties in North Carolina and York Couty in South Carolina.

Social Services
Anuvia Prevention and Recovery Center, Charlotte, NC was awarded $45,000 for salary and benefits for a male counselor at the Adolescent Services Center.
Children’s Attention Home, Inc., Rock Hill, SC was awarded $30,000 for the salary and benefits of a second Shift Supervisor.
Children’s Home Society of North Carolina, Inc., Greensboro, NC was awarded $26,080 for salary support of the Specialized Family Recruiters.
Community Link, Charlotte, NC was awarded $45,000 to provide salary support for the Homeless to Housing program.
Family Promise of York County, Rock Hill, SC was awarded $35,000 for the salaries of the direct care staff.
Habitat for Humanity of Charlotte, Charlotte, NC was awarded $35,000 for the support of a site supervisor.
Haven of Transylvania County, Brevard, NC was awarded $18,750 to help provide general operating support, specifically, a portion of the salary for the director.
International House of Metrolina, Charlotte, NC was awarded $35,000 to provide salary support for attorneys in the Immigration Law Clinic.
The Center for Community Transitions, Charlotte, NC was awarded $35,000 for salary and benefits support for a Workforce Development Specialist.
Urban League of the Central Carolinas, Inc., Charlotte, NC was awarded $75,000 to provide operating support for the ULCC Continuum of Opportunity workforce development programs.
Education
BELL, Dorchester, MA was awarded $40,000 in salary and benefits for teachers and other operating support for BELL Summer 2016.
Central Piedmont Community College Foundation, Charlotte, NC was awarded $65,000 to defray the salary, benefits, and other operating costs of the Summer Bridge and Man Up programs.
Children & Family Resource Center, Hendersonville, NC was awarded $50,000 to provide the salary and benefits of one FTE Coordinator for the PREP (Preschoolers Reaching Educational Potential) Program.
CrossRoads Corporation for Affordable Housing & Community Development, Charlotte, NC was awarded $20,000 in salary support for program staff.
Freedom School Partners, Charlotte, NC was awarded $45,000 to provide salary and benefits support for the Program Director and Program Coordinator.
Rock Hill School District Three, Rock Hill, SC was awarded $36,975 for the salary of a bilingual parent educator.
The Learning Collaborative, Charlotte, NC was awarded $25,000 to provide support for the Family School Readiness programming.
The Literacy Council of Buncombe County, Asheville, NC was awarded $20,000 to provide salary support for the Augustine Project Director.
United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County, Inc., Asheville, NC was awarded $55,000 to help support the Middle School
Success Initiative, specifically, salary support for a resource coordinator, and partial salary support for the EWRS Technical Support Specialist.

Blue Ridge Mountains Health Project, Cashiers, NC was awarded $24,500 to provide salary support for dental assistants.
Care Ring, Charlotte, NC was awarded $70,000 for salary, benefits and other operating support for one nurse for the Nurse-Family Partnership Program.
Florence Crittenton Services, Charlotte, NC was awarded $40,000 for salaries in the residential maternity care program.
Gaston Family Health Services, Inc., Gastonia, NC was awarded $40,000 for operating support for Gaston Family Medical Center, primarily salary and benefits for additional Medical Assistants.
Western North Carolina AIDS Project, Asheville, NC was awarded $49,190 to help provide general operating support, specifically, the salary, benefits, and transportation expenses of one case manager.
York County Free Clinic, Rock Hill, SC was awarded $40,000 for salary support of nurse practitioners.
Sisters of Mercy of North Carolina Foundation is a Supporting Organization and Sponsored Ministry of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas South Central Community, providing support for its charitable, religious and educational mission.
The South Central Community, itself, is one of six Communities of the Institute of the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, part of an international order of Roman Catholic women religious, committed to serving those suffering from poverty, sickness, and lack of education.
The South Central Community, with administrative offices located in Belmont, North Carolina, has 518 Sisters serving in 15 States in the United States, the U.S. territory of Guam and Jamaica.
