From UNC Asheville:
Fifth Annual National Physical Education Institute Kicks Off at UNC Asheville, July 25
Game changers in physical education and school sports will team up at UNC Asheville July 25-27 for the fifth annual National Physical Education & School Sport Institute. The collaborative venture is hosted by UNC Asheville’s North Carolina Center for Health & Wellness (NCCHW), in partnership with Great Activities Publishing Company and UNC Asheville Athletics.
“Convening and connecting is a UNC Asheville specialty,” said NCCHW Executive Director Stacey Millett. “The North Carolina Center for Health and Wellness focuses on creating spaces to exchange and explore ideas about improving community health. We are thrilled to host NPSEI again because each and every participant shapes the lives of young people in positive, healthy ways.”
This year’s institute includes keynotes from North America’s elite educators who inspire the online #PhysEd community. Each keynote will be streamed live on NCCHW’s website (ncchw.unca.edu) with ongoing conversations through Twitter using the hashtag #PEinstitute16. Online participants can also enter in “#tweetaways” (Twitter contests) throughout the institute.
Institute attendees participate in a variety of breakout sessions, from “Phys Ed Hacks” and “Nutrition is the Mission” to “Goalball” and “Transforming Teaching through Technology.”
“We are so pleased to have the ability to partner with UNC Asheville on this annual event,” said Artie Kamiya, president of Great Activities Publishing Company. “This year, over 380 physical education professionals representing 34 different states and nine different countries will gather in our own backyard to dream big about the future of physical education and school sport.”
