Asheville Museum of Science Soft Opening
AMOS opens its doors to the public for the first time as it eyes a grand-opening in the new year.
ASHEVILLE, NC – November 11th– The Asheville Museum of Science (AMOS) is pleased to announce they will be opening their doors to the public. A ribbon cutting and big check ceremony from Buncombe County Tourism Development Authority (TDA) will begin at noon as AMOS marks their official introduction to the heart of downtown Asheville.
Visitors will be able to explore the museum’s new exhibits as they uncover the science behind western North Carolina. Guests can be a geologist in our Colburn Hall of Minerals, drive around a replica of the Mars Curiosity Rover, say hello to our Teratophoneus dinosaur skeleton, face strong winds in our Mt. Mitchell Blast, travel in our Solar System by getting immersed in our docent driven Panorama visualization, and browse our expansive new gift shop. Exhibit instillation will continue as AMOS looks to be fully operational January of 2017. Admission prices will be $4 (discounted at half-price) until the Grand Opening.
With interactive exhibits, street level access, and a variety of educational programs, AMOS will be a must visit for the whole family. Exhibits in geology, weather, forestry, ecology, and paleontology ensure there’s an interactive science experience for everyone. Schools, kids, and families throughout western North Carolina will enjoy the broader cutting-edge programming covering a wide range scientific inquiry and STEM-based curriculum.
