Press release from Asheville Police Department:

On December 5th, Housing Officers with the Asheville Police Department, attended the “Shop with a Hero” Event at Walmart in Hendersonville. There were several agencies from Western North Carolina that attended.

The Asheville Police Department was assigned five young ladies from Etowah Elementary and one young man from Fletcher Elementary. Each officer was assigned one child for the day. They took pictures with Santa, had snacks, created shopping lists, and completed some coloring books. They then went and shopped for the items on their list and had them wrapped.

Officer Justin Wilson’s young man bought a gold fish and decided to name it “Wilson” after Officer Wilson. This was an excellent event and was a privilege to attend.
