GLASS BRICKS: When the new Asheville Citizen-Times Co. building opened in 1939, the newspaper reported that more than 20,000 glass bricks went into the structure’s design. The bricks were made by the Owens-Illinois Glass Co., at an estimated 50 cents per brick.
