Press release from Camplify:
Camplify is pleased to accept a $20,000 People In Need grant from the Community Foundation of Western North Carolina (CFWNC).
Camplify will expand our agency with this grant to include a formal Program Six: Building Capacity and Expanding Family Outreach. The agency runs skill-building programs ten months each year beginning with 4th grade students and culminating their senior year of high school. This grant includes funding for a promo video, family gatherings, salary support, and more.
The mission of Camplify is to use a series of camp-based and experiential learning programs to teach kids-in-need the life skills required to succeed and become the leaders of tomorrow. Because of CFWNC, Camplify will provide additional year-round resources to families through a child’s nine year leadership journey.
Camplify teaches 21st century skills to youth so they will thrive as adults. “Our agency had a vision to offer additional supports to our high school students,” said Executive Director, Kristin Dunn. “These young adults require a vast set of skills once they graduate. Because of this grant, these young people will experience apartment hunting, “buying” a vehicle, applying for full-time work, and budgeting at our first high school overnight retreat. Many families and schools do not have the ability to teach these post-secondary skills, so we are proud to offer this free weekend to participants.”
Funding for this program was provided by an anonymous fund of The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina and the Lipscomb Family Foundation. CFWNC is a permanent regional resource that facilitates more than $15 million in charitable giving annually. More information on The Community Foundation can be found at cfwnc.org.
“We are extremely grateful for The Community Foundation of Western North Carolina. This award will bolster our efforts to meet families needs throughout Western North Carolina.” said Camplify Executive Director, Kristin Dunn.
Unlike other groups that focus on a child’s academics or health, Camplify is dedicated to a child’s character. Every year, Camplify connects over 200 WNC youth with skill-building opportunities utilizing camp and monthly retreats. Through our progressive programs, students begin in grade 4 to learn about responsibility, collaboration, goal-setting, and more.
