Green Opportunities launches leadership search after departure of J Hackett

Press release from Green Opportunities:

Green Opportunities’ board of directors has announced that its current executive director, J Hackett, is stepping down from his role to pursue his dream of faith-based work. “I’m grateful to have had an opportunity to serve at Green Opportunities – an organization that is committed to training, supporting and connecting motivated job seekers from our community to meaningful career pathways,” said Hackett.

GO’s board is in the process of identifying an interim executive director to lead the organization through this transition. It is taking steps to select and appoint a leadership transition committee comprised of community stakeholders, staff and GO graduates to recruit and place a permanent executive director. It plans to have someone in place within 3-6 months.

Board Co-Chairs Rachel Larson and Sherman Williams expressed appreciation for the passionate leadership J has demonstrated throughout his tenure, during which the organization strengthened its financial position with increased revenue from social enterprises and diversified funding sources. Organizational accomplishments of the last year include opening a café at the Givens Gerber Park retirement community, developing new training and employment pathways for Certified Peer Support Specialists and Early Childhood Educators, and launching UpStaff Personnel, a temp to perm staffing agency that connects potential candidates with sustainable employment partnerships.
