Press release from Henderson County Public Schools:
Dana Elementary students are saving the earth, one compost bin at a time.
As of this year, Dana has switched to paper trays and trash cans are no longer available in cafeteria. They’re reducing landfill waste through composting, thanks to a partnership with Atlas Organics and the Henderson County Solid Waste Division.
Check out these results: on Friday of the first week of school, Dana’s students had composted nearly 2 bins worth of material, leaving only one trash bin full of landfill waste.
