Celebrate Pregnancy Childbirth Classes (3-day class)FREE

Tuesdays, Sept. 10, 17 and 24, 6-9 p.m.

This FREE three-session, 12-hour childbirth course, taught by Joy Kusek, trained doula, Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator since 2011, and Baby Place nurse, offers all the essentials to prepare you for labor, childbirth and the care of your newborn.

Topics include:

Session One – late pregnancy, onset of labor, and the stages of labor, discussing everything from what labor feels like, how to time contractions, knowing when to leave for the hospital, and baby’s delivery.

Session Two – what to expect the first hour after giving birth, medical procedures in childbirth, understanding cesarean birth, how to support your loved one in childbirth, breath awareness skills and hands-on comfort measures in labor. Please dress comfortably for this session.

Session Three – postpartum recovery and care, resuming intimacy after childbirth, breastfeeding education, including proper latch and positioning, newborn sleep safety and how to soothe a fussy baby. Please bring a baby doll or stuffed animal to this session.

A tour of The Baby Place will be offered during the second session. Plan on attending all sessions of the class. Registration includes all three sessions. There is no cost to attend this class, and our classes are available to all expectant parents in our community, no matter where they plan to deliver their baby.

New Beginnings New Parents Meetup Group – FREE

This FREE support group is a place where new families can gather together to share their experiences, receive help and support from each other, and find community resources. The group is led by a Baby Place nurse and/or a Baby Place lactation consultant. A scale will be provided to weigh babies. Two caregivers and babies under one-year may attend. No registration required.
