Hendersonville Police Department seeks help to locate Oct. 8 shooting suspects

Press release from the City of Hendersonville:

On Tuesday, Oct. 8, three individuals were engaging in drug-related activity in a vehicle in the area of 4th Ave. East and Grove St. in Hendersonville. During the interaction, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the driver and rear passenger began shooting at the individual who was sitting in the front passenger seat. The victim exited the vehicle and ran to the lobby of City Hall, where he was given aid. The victim, who had been shot multiple times the torso, was transported to Mission Hospital, where he was treated for his wounds and released.

The investigation revealed the identity of one of the shooters as 33-year-old Kenny Lamar Smith Jr., who has been known to reside in Asheville and Charlotte, NC. Smith has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a firearm by a felon. The second suspect has not yet been identified and the whereabouts of both suspects are unknown at this time.
