Press release from Western North Carolina VA Healthcare System:
In an effort to be proactive and to safeguard patient and staff safety, beginning Monday, March 9, 2020, at 6 a.m., all employees, patients, visitors, contractors and students wishing to enter any of the buildings in the Western North Carolina VA Healthcare System will complete a health screen prior to entry.
If you believe your visit could be completed via telephone or video appointment, please contact your provider.
As we move through this process, please expect delays. We ask that you plan ahead, but know that your providers will still see you if you are late to your appointments.
Screening will consist of three COVID-19-related questions created by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Those wishing to use valet parking should remain in their vehicles and wait to be screened curbside.
The screening questions are:
- Are you having flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough or shortness of breath?
- In the last 14 days have you traveled to a high-risk area for transmission of COVID-19?
- Have you been in close contact with someone confirmed or is being evaluated for COVID-19?
Please know that your safety is our top priority. We realize that as things change nationwide, we may need to make changes as well. We will provide continuous updates via Facebook and on the CGVAMC website at www.asheville.va.gov.
We appreciate your patience with us while we navigate this process. If you answered yes to two of the three questions above, please stay home and call (828) 298 – 7911, then press 3 when prompted so we can coordinate your care. As always if you feel like you need emergency care, dial 9-1-1.
