Appalachian Storytelling Extravaganza will be live-streamed, March 19

Press release from Center for Cultural Preservation:

STORYTELLING CAN BE THE PANACEA OF OUR TIME

Our elders faced adversity constantly whether it be persistent hunger, storms that effected their crops or disease.  Yet amidst the adversity was a constant joy of being connected to their land, their community and their faith.  In order to celebrate these lessons of mountain elders in our own adverse times, the Center for Cultural Preservation has redoubled its efforts to present its Appalachian Storytelling Extravaganza featuring nationally acclaimed storyteller, Connie Regan-Blake now through a livestreaming event on Thursday, March 19 at 7:00 PM.  The event will be accessible on any device including computer, smartphone, smart TV, iPad and more.

In addition to sharing our community’s heritage through spacious engagement, participants can ask questions of the storyteller online, get discounts on her CDs and help to support the Center for Cultural Preservation’s work to preserve the living history of the mountains.  Funds raised through this event will help the Center produce its newest documentary film on Moonshining in the Mountains.

To register for Appalalachian Stroytelling Extravaganza and receives a link to the live event and the archival recording, visit SaveCulture.org or call the Center at (828) 692-8062.
