Thanks for reading through to the end…

We share your inclination to get the whole story. For the past 25 years, Xpress has been committed to in-depth, balanced reporting about the greater Asheville area. We want everyone to have access to our stories. That’s a big part of why we've never charged for the paper or put up a paywall.

We’re pretty sure that you know journalism faces big challenges these days. Advertising no longer pays the whole cost. Media outlets around the country are asking their readers to chip in. Xpress needs help, too. We hope you’ll consider signing up to be a member of Xpress. For as little as $5 a month — the cost of a craft beer or kombucha — you can help keep local journalism strong. It only takes a moment.

What’s a Weaverville resident doing in North Asheville? You should be at home.

Someone has to be out keeping tabs on people they assume should not be out!

Good point. Maybe we should send out people to keep tabs on the people keeping tabs? I mean, we can’t be too careful.

Well now, to be fair, it’s well known that Weaverville doesn’t have any grocery stores, gas stations, or pharmacies. They have to come to N. Asheville for essentials, right?

  2. Keep Your Distance

Get out of North Asheville if you don’t live here! We’ve been invaded by Weaverville people! They’re everywhere. Stay home!

Not enough information to process. I live in N. Asheville but cannot comment on this.

“Food, gas and medicine are all you need right now” also essential employees need to go to their jobs and people need to get outside and exercise. What did you even see that has you so upset?

Are you not even going to tell us what you saw? I was over in N. Asheville bringing my grandmother food and saw some people walking and I am kinda worried that is what you are upset about. People are both allowed and need to be getting out and moving. As long as you are maintaining 6 ft from the people not in your family or household then it is perfectly safe to walk around outside.

We should not be so quick to judge. Many people are still working. Many are running critical errands for themselves or others. I myself live in Weaverville and have had to make at least 2 trips to North Asheville in the past week for valid reasons. Driving is not a crime. The main thing is to avoid congregating and to practice social distancing while around other people. Let’s have a little faith in our fellow human beings for making the best decisions we can at this time.
