Announcement from Land of Sky Regional Council:
In an effort to keep our communities safe, this year’s Strive Beyond offers online activities for the entire family to participate, including a bike-rack scavenger hunt and Neighborhood Out Discovery Tour. The events are coordinated by Mountain Region AARP, Asheville on Bike, Land of Sky Regional Council, and French Broad River MPO and begins May 18.
Strive Beyond runs May 18-25, 2020 with details and mapping tools at http://strivebeyond.org/.
Bike Rack Scavenger Hunt – To get started on bike or by foot, download the collection tool and map the bike racks you find on your route. Your input, including text and photos, will contribute to bike infrastructure and help neighbors. This scavenger hunt takes place May 18-25, with maps available after that week.
The Neighborhood Out Discovery Tour – Take it one step further by creating maps of your neighborhood. WNC Strive Beyond’s Neighborhood Out Discovery Tour offers an online tool to create and share community-made maps. Walk or bike around your neighborhood noting points of interest or check out neighbor-created maps to connect with your route in new ways. The map-making begins May 18 and will be available during and after Strive Beyond 2020.
Participant involvement is an essential ingredient in WNC Strive Beyond 2020 and can help our community build a library of walking and biking routes in our neighborhoods and promote positive movement options.
